This week, we’ve got four upcoming rides, results and photos from the Hill Climb challenge, a call-out for questions for the Committee, and some great tips on hydration from club coach, Michael.

🗓️ Upcoming Rides

🚴‍♀️ Forge Ride : 2 August

The Forge Ride is on a rest week, but look out for conversations in the group chat among those planning a faster-paced spin out on Saturday. Come as you like.

  • Roll out: 9:15

  • Duration: 3-4 hours

  • Location: Forge Cafe, Ringmer

 🌳 Gravel Ride: 3 August

Mugs Gohl is leading a group out west to Pyecombe then up and over the Downs towards a coffee stop at Berrets Cafe on the Downslink, Henfield. Bring your climbing legs. Club kit preferred.

  • Roll out: 8:30

  • Duration: 4-5 hours/80km, including coffee stop.

  • Location: Chailey Secondary School

🥐 Club Ride: 3 August

Paget Cohen will be leading the Club Ride, also out west, to Camelia Botnar Coffee Shop in Cowfold. Club kit preferred.

  • Roll out: 8:30

  • Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee stop.

  • Location: Boots, Uckfield

Wednesday Slackers: 6 August

Set the Out-of-Office. A small band of Slackers will be slopping off again on Wednesday. Approx 3.5 hours. Generally Z2. Come as you like.

  • Roll out: 9:00

  • Location: Isfield or Barcombe (TBC)

  • Sign up: Ask to be added to the Wednesday Slackers WhatsApp group.

🔥 In Case You Missed It…

💯 Congratulations to Peter Baker and Ben Gregory on completing the Southern Counties 100 last Sunday. Peter placed 20th overall in a time of 4:46:05 on his TT bike, and Ben came in 25th in a highly commendable time of 4:58:51 on a road-bike with a failed Di2! Chapeau to them both.

🏔️The Hill Climb Challenge took place on Firle Beacon on Monday. Kudos to guest rider, Dan Pink, who shot up in 4’25”, and to Dan Street, first Wanderer to the top in 5’15”. Check out all the results and the fine photo selection.

Shock is reverberating through the cycling community at the extraordinary prescience of Lewes Wanderers’ members when predicting Pog as the winner. Will the club be able to maintain its record in a Pogless La Vuelta?! Look out for the poll.
