Rolling News

You’d be disappointed if there wasn’t at least a passing reference to the Spain trip this week, and one thing we never do is disappoint.
But there is more.
Saturday brings a choice of pace, from a faster Forge run westwards to a gentler Saturday Social to the east. Sunday’s plans depend on what the weather gods have in store for us.
Elsewhere, the Long Ride edges closer, the Circuit of Laughton is on the horizon, and yes… the stories from Spain are still being squeezed for every last drop.
Dive in for all the details.
🚴 Forge Ride - Saturday 9 May
You don’t have to be The King of Wishful Thinking this week, as the Forge ride goes west towards Burgess Hill (that’s one for our 90’s music fans 😉). 60 km of faster-paced/training with “through and off” in places.
Roll out: 9:15 am
Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee stop.
Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
☕️ Saturday Social - Saturday 9 May
For anyone looking for a gentler pace on Saturday - more Mozart than The Prodigy - Paget will lead a ride to Arlington Tea Gardens via Seaford.
Roll out: 9:00 am
Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee stop.
Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit expected
☕️ Sunday Social - Sunday 10 May
The forecast is for rain on Sunday, so the distance and destination of any ride will be determined by the weather. Keep an eye on the group chat.
Roll out: 8:30 am
Duration: Approx. 4 hours, including the coffee stop.
Start Location: Boots, Uckfield
Dress Code: Club kit expected
⛓️ Chain Gang - Tuesday 12 May
The evenings are getting longer, which means time for more laps. Whether that’s a selling point or not is a matter of opinion! Roll down to the Forge on Tuesday evening to find out.
Roll out: 5:45 pm (for 6:00 pm start)
Duration: Approx. 1.5 hours
Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
☕️ Wednesday Slackers - Wednesday 13 May
The stories have (mostly) been told, and the tan lines are fading fast. Expect a bit less talk about Spain, and a bit more about plans for what’s next. Give the chat a thumbs up if you’re in.
Roll out: 9:00 am
Duration: Approx. 3 hours
Start Location: The Village Shop, Barcombe
Dress Code: Come as you like
🇪🇸 The Boys and Girls are Back in Town
The Spain crew are back—and what a fantastic time they had.
Huge thanks to Richard and Maddy for hosting a magnificent five days, with rides that catered for everyone, from steady spins to tougher days out. ❤️
The weather threatened to have its say, but never quite followed through. The only casualty was a hair dryer, which proved unfit for its true calling as a dryer of Neil’s shoes.
Special mention to Paul Sweeney for having the biggest bike box on the planet, and the picture of Alex? Well, you had to be there.

A brilliant few days all round—and, inevitably, talk has already turned to doing it all again next year. Get your name on the list!

🏁 Circuit of Laughton
The Circuit of Laughton hits town on 27 May, and is undoubtedly the best way to spend a Wednesday evening since Fame was on BBC 1 (that’s another one for our Gen X’ers).
This TT is perfect whether you’re chasing a PB or pinning a number on for the first time. Don’t be put off if you’re new - this is as much about getting involved as it is about results, and the post-ride chat is at least half the fun.
We’ll need a strong crew of riders and volunteers to make it happen, so if you’ve been thinking about giving it a go (on or off the bike), this is your moment.
🩳 Kit News and Other Shorts
👕 Anniversary ShopThe Anniversary shop is now OPEN and will remain open until 18 May. Today (Friday, 8 May) is the last day to change any orders for Fractal kit. Please email Darren if you’d like to change yours. | 😮💨 The Long Ride16 May is getting closer! An 8 am start is planned, with Boots, Uckfield, as the meeting point. The ride will be travelling in a clockwise direction, so pray for a tailwind on the way back. More details next week. |
