Rolling News

Our TT season might be done, but there’s no easing up just yet. This weekend brings the Forge ride on Saturday, and the Social ride on Sunday, plus our Jubilee jerseys have landed (get ready to look sharp). The Jubilee Lunch date is set and there’s a new Buy, Sell & Swap group if you fancy a clear-out.

🚴‍♀️ Forge Ride : 27 September

We’re on an “official” Forge ride week. This time it’s the Wartling loop returning via Herstmonceux. Faster-paced, training ride. Approx 60 km.

☕️ Sunday Social Ride: 28 September

Detals of the Sunday ride are still in development. Please keep an eye on the Facebook page or group chat for updates. Socially-paced, “no-drop” ride.

  • Roll out: 8:30

  • Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.

👕Jubilee Jersey

They’re here! Our special edition Jubilee jerseys have arrived and are ready to collect from Darren. Drop Darren a message by email or WhatsApp to arrange to pick up yours.

If you’re doing the Forge ride, you can collect yours before we roll out and give it its first outing. We’ll ask the The Forge to look after the jersey you ride down in.

🍽️ Jubilee Lunch - 16 November - Save the Date

A booking has now been made for our celebratory lunch on Sunday, 16 November, 1:00pm at the Five Bells, South Chailey.

More details will follow, but please save the date.

The Committee is currently locked in talks with the treasurer over a subsidy for the meal and drinks. We’ll let you know when he cracks.

🔥 Racing News…

Time Trialling

Michael Renardson showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels and a distant rear light, when he rounded the Circuit of Chailey course in 43:53 on Sunday 🚀. Guest rider, Robert Lovett, from TMC Strada was second in 46:22, and Neil Edwards was third in 49:02. The full results are here.

A word from your TT Secretary

“The Circuit of Chailey brought our TT season to an end. Thanks to all the riders and volunteers who made these events possible. We ran 12 events for 112 riders, which included several guests from other clubs and a welcome uptick in female entrants. A special thank you to Richard Meed, Graham Jeffs and Su Balcomb who turned up every week with the stop watches. Where would we be without you?

“Next up is the Circuit of Danehill, which is expected to be on 29 March (tbc). Save the date!”

Dan Street travelled north to represent the club in Round 2 of the Challenge Tyres London & South East Cyclo-Cross League at Crystal Palace Park. Sadly, after a strong start, a cut tyre sidewall brought his race to an abrupt end.

Ryan Machin, meanwhile, faired marginally better in the Gorrick Equinox XC near Frimley Green. Ryan finished seventh, despite hooking himself on a tree!

That’s racing.

Buy, Sell and Swap

We've created a Buy, Sell and Swap WhatsApp Group for members looking to do just that. Post any cycling related items you’d like to sell, or are looking for.

First out of the blocks is Ben Gregory who’s offering up this Specialized Stumpjumper and two other bikes.

Ask to be added to the group if it’s of interest.

Till next time,
