The countdown to Christmas is very much on, and we’re now measuring power at Wanderers HQ in watts per mince pie. There’s a Forge Ride on Saturday and a Sunday Social to help you recalibrate your power meter.

In other news, a fresh consignment of Jubilee Jerseys has landed, and that last remaining spot on the Spain trip in February has just been nabbed. So, it’s all eyes on April/May.

🚴 Forge Ride: 13 December

The second Saturday of the month means it’s a Forge Ride week. We’re on the Burgess Hill loop, with the Plumpton Flyer to finish. Faster-paced, training ride of approx 60 km.

  • Roll out: 9:15 am

  • Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee stop

  • Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer

  • Dress Code: Club kit preferred

☕️ Sunday Social Ride: 14 December

Darren and Paget are leading a ride from the Forge at Ringmer (not the usual Boots, Uckfield) to Southease YHA. Socially-paced, “no-drop” ride.

  • Roll out: 9:00

  • Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.

  • Location: The Forge Ringmer

  • Dress Code: Club kit preferred

🇪🇸 Spain ‘26 - February SOLD OUT!

There are only two types of rider at this time of year: those who are going to Spain, and those who wish they were going to Spain.

If you’re in the second group, then act fast, because February is now SOLD OUT. There are, though, still a few places left for April/May.

As a reminder, the trip runs from 29 April - 4 May. The cost is ~£450 per person and includes villa accommodation, breakfast, airport transfers, guided rides and a private taxi service locally. At only £90 a night, this is outstanding value, however you look at it.

Member, Hannah Jackson, is doing a stunning job of turning her coffee shop into a real destination, thoroughly deserving of its 5-star Google reviews.

With additional seating downstairs, there is now plenty of space to warm cold hands and recharge on the wide range of cakes and pastries.

Bikes can be left out of sight at the back (lock still recommended). You can even book yourself a sports massage while you’re there!

🎄Did you know…?

Back in the day, cycling clubs held lantern-lit Christmas rides where dozens of riders rolled through towns with candles and flickering lamps strapped to their bikes. Locals likened the glowing peloton to “a line of moving Christmas trees.”

Well, there’s an idea…maybe next year!
