🏁 Evening 10 Series

This Week’s Results

A record turnout of 33 riders made Monday’s Evening 10 a proper showcase for the club. The 2-Up format attracted riders from across the area and, as you’ll see in the video, there was a real buzz in the air from beginning to end.

When it came to the racing, Calum Elms topped the standings, beating TT bikes and pairs alike on his road bike in a time of 21:35.

Guest pairing George Stevenson (Sussex Revolution) and Ali Robinson (Brighton Mitre) swept up the 2-Up competition in a time of 21:37, with Karla Boddy and Caitlin Bower (both Brighton Mitre) heading the women’s 2-Up results in 23:53.

The next fastest Wanderers home were Richard Burchett (22:51), winning the TT category; Dan Street and Chris Hurcomb, who were third in the men’s 2-Up (23:10); and Olivia Webb riding with Maddie Jackson (Eastbourne Rovers) in the women’s pairs (26:05).

With strong numbers, a warm evening and great racing, it was one of the best nights of the series so far.

Points Competition

The points competitions are heading for a lively finish.

Calum Elms has strengthened his grip on the road-bike standings with another maximum 12-point haul. His 60 points keep him ahead of Dan Street on 50 and Chris Hurcomb on 48.

Peter Baker also sits on the maximum 60 points in the TT competition, while Richard Burchett’s latest win lifts him to 34.

In the women’s competition, Alice Gilmore and Olivia Webb are now locked together on 48 points. Game on.

Next Week

On Monday, the Evening 10 gives way to something shorter and steeper: the Firle Beacon Hill Climb.

It’s a simple challenge — ride uphill as fast as you can and question every life choice on the way. This is one of the season’s standout events.

👕 Club Shop

The Club Shop is now open for orders of the Fractal Design and will remain open until 12 August. The estimated shipping date is 2 October.

📺 TdF at The Black Horse

Can it be over already? The culmination of the Tour will be showing in the back bar.

Watching the final kilometres together sounds like a pretty good way for club members to spend a late Sunday afternoon. Drop in, grab a drink and reflect on what might have been …if you were younger, fitter and had a better bike.

Stage 20 - Saturday 25 July - The Queen stage with 5,450 metres of climbing including the Croix de Fer, the Col du Galibier and Alpe d'Huez. A monster day!

Stage 21 - Sunday 26 July - The final stage into Paris, featuring three laps of the cobbled Montmartre climb to Sacré-Coeur.
