Rolling News

The AGM took place on Tuesday, which means plenty of updates and new initiatives to share over the coming weeks.
There’s a lot happening — and it’s all good stuff, with growing the membership and going deeper into off-road riding being big themes for the year ahead.
And before all that, there’s this weekend’s ride to look forward to.
🚴 Saturday Social - 24 January
Did you see what we did there? We hope you’re paying attention because the normal Sunday Social ride is being switched to Saturday in anticipation of better weather. Destination is the Marshmallow Cow Cafe at Ditchling. Socially paced/no drop.
Roll out: 9:00 am
Duration: Approx. 4 hours, including the coffee stop
Start Location: Forge, Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
🚫 Sunday Social - 25 January
There is NO Sunday Social Ride this week.
🌼 Memorial Ride
What a wonderful turnout for the ride in memory of Chris, John & Vince last Sunday. Thank you to everyone who rode or simply took a moment to think of lost friends.
We plan to establish the memorial ride as a permanent fixture in the Lewes Wanderers’ calendar, holding it on or around 15 January each year.

🕺AGM Recap
Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM on Tuesday evening. We had a really energising discussion about topics that matter to the Club for the next 12 months - and beyond.
High-five to Mark Cavendish for dropping in to talk to us, and to Fatboy Slim for the after-party. (You missed it? Ah well, there’s always next year).
The minutes are being finalised and will be available on the website shortly. Over the next few weeks, we’ll expand on the several significant decisions and initiatives that were agreed.
Starting with…
🌳…Off-Road Rides
We want to build a name for the Club in the rapidly growing local off-road scene. From March, we’ll introduce a regular off-road ride on the first Saturday of every month, with the first ride planned for Saturday 7 March. The rides will be promoted to members and non-members in the area, to encourage more people to join the club. Members will, of course, get priority if numbers require it. Chris Hurcomb, Mugs Gohl and Georgina Wise will be sharing responsibilities as ride leaders 🎩. Look out for more details as their plans are fine-tuned. | ![]() |
![]() | 📈 Membership NumbersWe are pleased to report that member numbers now stand at 74 (up from 57 at the last AGM), with a 94% retention rate. More initiatives to grow the Club are already in motion, so watch this space. 👋 New Committee MembersA warm welcome to Mugs Gohl (Women’s Representative) and Richard Roberts (Social Secretary) to the committee. We’re already inspired by the ideas and energy they brought to the AGM. |
🇪🇸 Spain ‘26
Time really is running out. We are now up to nine, including Richard and Maddy, which means just three villa places remain. Grab yours before time runs out at the end of the month.
🙋♂️ Before you go
We’re on the lookout for a Club Secretary.
Duties are pretty straightforward, and the time commitment is small (honest).
You’ll coordinate the agenda for the four committee meetings we have each year, take notes and produce the minutes (easy, right?). More excitingly, you’ll be able to contribute to the wide-ranging discussions we have about the short- and long-term direction of the club.
As with all the roles on the Committee, you won’t be alone. Plenty of support will be provided by the other members.
Think you can put your hand up to help? Then drop a line to the Chairman.
Till next time,
