Rolling News

Ho, Ho, Ho, it’s nearly, almost, actually, near as damn-it, Christmas week in Wanderers-land.
Time to make some questionable jumper choices and get pedalling on the rides we’ve got planned through to the New Year.
Here’s what’s coming up and, as always, a little extra to keep you up to date.🎄🚴♂️
🎄 Christmas Ride Schedule
Here’s a full rundown of the rides we have planned over the Christmas and New Year period. If you’ve got a Christmas jersey, now’s your time to rock it.
Sunday 21 December: Festive Social Ride. A festive warm-up before the big day, heading towards Middle Farm and finishing with a celebratory drink at a local hostelry. Socially-paced, “no-drop” ride.
Roll out: 9:00
Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.
Location: The Forge Ringmer
Dress Code: Christmas jumpers preferred
Saturday 27 December: Tinsel Tempo Ride. Better known as the Forge Ride. A faster-paced training ride for anybody who can tear themselves away from the buffet and needs to burn off a few mince pies.
Roll out: 9:15
Duration: Approx 3 hours, including coffee.
Location: The Forge Ringmer
Dress Code: Christmas jumpers preferred
Sunday 28 December: Post-Pudding Ride. A more socially-paced ride for those who meant to ride yesterday, but the sofa won. Come along and coax your legs back into life.
Roll out: 9:00
Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.
Location: The Forge Ringmer
Dress Code: Christmas jumpers preferred
Wednesday 31 December: New Year’s Eve Ride. An “All-Club” ride to send off a great year. If there are sufficient numbers, we’ll run A & B groups and return to the Forge for a coffee and a quick and tuneless chorus of Auld Lang Syne.
Roll out: 9:00
Duration: Approx 3 hours, including coffee.
Location: The Forge Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
⏰ For Dickens’ sake - don’t forget to renew your membership ⏰
If you forget to renew your membership, it’s Bah, humbug! for the rest of us on the Committee for the whole year. Take care of it before Christmas, though, and festive goodwill is fully restored. Rumour has it that the Treasurer softens considerably when memberships are in order. Do your Committee a favour and click the link to renew before Christmas. ….Please 😭 | ![]() Sorry, Graham. I’ll buy you a drink 😜 |
🇪🇸 Spain ‘26 - February deposits now due
Maddy is now in touch with riders for February and starting to coordinate flight planning and bike hire arrangements. A payment link will be circulated shortly to allow deposits to be collected.
Booking is still open for April/May and will remain open until 15 January. We’re expecting to be able to run A and B rides on this trip to cater for all appetites and fitness levels, so get your name on the list!

🚲 New Bike Day - Specialized Diverge Expert
![]() | No, I didn’t need another bike, says Alex Steer… but after too many South Downs epics left me feeling like I’d spent the ride strapped to a pneumatic drill, something more forgiving was calling. Enter the Specialized Diverge Expert: full carbon, adjustable suspension stem, Zipp 303s and 47mm tyres. It’s basically an ATV with drop bars. 🤩 |
Life just got smoother, faster and far more compliant — and my post-ride fatigue has all but vanished.
Alex’s N+1 Tip: if you do buy another bike, make sure it’s the same colour as one of your others - it avoids arousing suspicion.

👕 Jubilee Jerseys
Darren still has a few items of kit waiting to be collected. You won’t look right on Christmas morning without yours on, so get yourself down to DBH’s pronto and claim it soon.
🎅🏼 Hands up if you remember…
…postmen delivering Christmas cards on a pushbike. [Err, me 🙋♂️]
Sacks were so heavy the GPO had to issue reinforced racks just for December. No carbon frames, no gels, they’d tap out 20+ miles a day on a steel bike and a flask of tea. Hardcore training.
Till next time,
