Rolling News

The peak of the heat may be behind us, but the riding is still very much ahead.

This week, we’ve got a new Ashdown Forest route for the Forge Ride, the start of the Evening 10 series, details of the 2026 points competition, results from the Circuit of Laughton, and two ride-of-the-week efforts that suggest some members have completely lost their marbles.

Read on for all this and the usual nonsense.

We kick off our Evening 10 Series on Monday on the Ringmer circuit. Join in for fun, or to collect points for our new points competition (details below).

  • First rider off: 7:30 pm

  • Course: G10/88 (Ringmer)

  • HQ: East Hoathly Village Hall, BN8 6EQ, from 6:45 pm

Tuesday Evening Chain Gangs are now on hold until the Evening 10 Series has finished.

🏁 Circuit of Laughton

A glorious evening, a full field and a lively Roebuck Inn afterwards made the Circuit of Laughton feel exactly like club time trialling should be.

Congratulations to Mark Edwards (Eastbourne Rovers) on his overall win on a TT bike in a time of 28:31. Winner of the road bike category was first-timer Calum Elms in 29:36. Not a bad way to introduce yourself!

First in the female category was Olivia Webb (also of Eastbourne Rovers) in a time of 33:18.

Just as important, though, were the riders who pinned a number on and gave it a go, several for the first time. This is the real reason we run our club TTs 👏.

The post-race debrief continued at the Roebuck well into the late evening, where times were compared, excuses offered, and bike nonsense debated over cold beers… until most remembered they still had to ride home.

You’ll find all the times and positions here.

🏁 Evening 10 series

Yes, it’s that time of year again.

Every Monday evening from 1 June to 20 July, we’ll be running our Evening “10” TTs.

We’ll start on the Ringmer course (G10/88) for four weeks, then switch to the Boship course (G10/87) for the remaining four.

To keep things interesting, we’re including two 2-up events this year: one on 22 June (Ringmer) and the other on 20 July (Boship). Ride with the same partner twice, or mix it up.

Signing up in advance

Given the number and frequency of these events, we need to know that we have enough riders each week to put the event on. If we don’t have five or more, the race will be cancelled.

For this reason, it’s not only helpful but important that you sign up in advance to signal your intention to ride. You will also be kept up to date with late decisions affecting the event, e.g. roadworks.

Payment can be deferred until the evening if you prefer.

🏆 Points Competition

New for 2026, we’ve refreshed and simplified the points competition to add a little extra spice to the season.

There are two competitions: the Evening 10 Series and an Overall TT Competition covering the 10s, Danehill, Laughton, Chailey and the Hill Climb.

The format is simple: points for starting, finishing and placing in the top five, so both regular riding and strong performances count. The best five results decide the standings.

👏 Rides of the Week

The trend for long rides is possibly getting out of hand!

Nick Miles (miles by name, kilometres by nature) kicked things off on 23 May with 299.3 km of mainly off-road in the Aethelred x MASON gravel Ultra.

Not to be outdone, Adam Goward hopped on his machine at 11:00 on Sunday, 24 May and finally parked it 27 hours later, following his 400 km DIY Audax around the South Downs National Park.

Seriously guys 😮

We hope to bring you more details of these rides next week.
