Rolling News

Sometimes it’s right to pause to remember the past before looking ahead to the future.
This week, we will ride together in remembrance of members we have lost on Sunday, and come together again on Tuesday to shape the future of the club at the AGM.
Give some time, if you can, this week to support both 🙏.
🌼 Memorial Ride - 18 January
This week’s ride is a special one. We’ll be riding to Daisy’s Team Room at Clayhill, nr Ringmer, in memory of our dear friend, Chris Hough, who we sadly lost one year ago this week in a road accident while out riding.
We will also remember John Mankelow and Vincent Busk, who died in similarly tragic circumstances doing something they both loved.
We invite as many members as possible to join this socially paced, no-drop ride, even if the Sunday club run isn’t usually part of your week. To ride together in memory of these members will mean a great deal to those who knew them.
Roll out: 9:00 am
Duration: Approx. 4 hours, including the coffee stop
Start Location: Boots, Uckfield
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
📆 AGM Reminder - Tuesday 20 January
A quick reminder that we’re holding our AGM on Tuesday, 20 January at the Dorset, Lewes, from 7:00 pm. (No queuing before 5:00 pm, please!)
The AGM is your chance to check on the health of the club, learn about what the Committee is working on, and help shape the direction for the year ahead.
The Agenda is now being prepared. If you want to voice an opinion or share an idea, simply reply to this email to let us know. Alternatively, we’d love to see you there if you just want to support what’s going on.
And yes, Barry — the buffet will be free!

Did somebody say “buffet”?
🇪🇸 Spain 2026 - Go on, treat yourself
We’ve got seven riders, including Richard and Maddy, already rummaging for their passports in time for the trip at the end of April. We can take up to 12, and the more we have, the merrier. If you put your hand up when the trip was first floated, but haven’t made it official yet, treat yourself!! Your future you will thank you. Richard and Maddy have agreed that the decision deadline can be extended to 30 January, but no longer. We already have a mixed group of boys and girls confirmed, so it really is a trip for everyone. | ![]() Roads smoother than buttercream |
📚 Book Review: Believe by Sir Mark Cavendish
![]() Members’ Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ | Bookending Bradley Wiggins’ book, The Chain, which we reviewed a couple of weeks ago, is Believe by Mark Cavendish. Believe charts Cavendish’s road from his four stage wins in the 2021 Tour de France to finally achieving his historic 35th win in 2024. If you like plenty of injury, rejection and frustration interspersed with your race accounts, this is the book for you. Our admiration for the man only grew, but we felt the book held back on some aspects. Find out what in the full review. |
Before you go
A few more Spain pictures to tempt you. 😍 ☀️
