Happy New Year, Wanderers 🎉

Winter has an icy grip on us this weekend, so 2026 gets going under a neutralised start.

Before we get rolling in earnest again, it’s a perfect time to look back on a standout year for our club — and to start getting excited about what’s coming next.

🥶 Ride Schedule - Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 January

With temperatures forecast to be below freezing and feel as low as -9°C, we will not be running organised rides this weekend.

If you decide to go out, either on the road or off-road, please be careful. There’s a long season and plenty of good riding ahead.

🎇2025 Year in Review

2025 was truly a year to remember.

We had new members, club tours, the introduction of off-road riding and coaching, and, of course, our Platinum Jubilee sitting at the heart of it all.

📚 Book Review - The Chain, Bradley Wiggins

“It gives you everything you’ve ever asked for in that moment — and takes so much more in return.”

On this line pivots The Chain - a raw, often uncomfortable account of what Tour de France success really cost Bradley Wiggins.

Victories in Paris and London 2012 are described briefly, almost clinically. Instead, the book focuses on identity, trauma, addiction, and the carefully constructed “Wiggo” persona that masked deep insecurity.

Honest, human and sad — this is a worthwhile read.
