Rolling News

Here’s another little slice of Wanderers’ life to brighten your Friday.

We’ve got a picture-of-the-year contender, a round-up of last weekend’s superb Jubilee Lunch (spoiler alert: nobody left hungry). There’s also the latest Committee meeting minutes and a fun cycling fact that’s too hot to handle.

🚴 Forge Ride: 22 November

Not quite an official Forge week yet, you’ll have to wait until next Saturday for that, but if the weather is fair, there’s bound to be a gathering. Keep an eye out for the chat on WhatsApp or start one yourself. Faster-paced, training ride.

  • Roll out: 9:15 am.

  • Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee stop

  • Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer

  • Dress Code: Come as you like

☕️ Sunday Social Ride: 23 November

There’s no complicated schedule for the Sunday ride: it’s every Sunday. Only the destination is a mystery! Watch the usual channels for more information and weather-related updates. Socially-paced, “no-drop” ride.

  • Roll out: 8:30

  • Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.

  • Location: Boots, Uckfield

  • Dress Code: Club kit preferred

Picture of the Week…of the Year?

If people ever ask you why you ride, show them this belter from Chris Hurcomb, captured on last weekend’s gravel ride.

🍽️ Jubilee Lunch

Grace, DBH style

Smile, there’s pudding still to come

Nobody goes home empty-handed

A fabulous time was had by more than 30 Wanderers and guests who gathered at the Five Bells in Chailey for our Jubilee celebration lunch last Sunday. Well done to the staff at the Five Bells for their friendly service and a piping hot meal, and thanks to Harveys Brewery for donating bottles of beer for our gift bags. If you couldn’t make it this time, we’re giving you 25 years’ notice of the next one!

What’s the Committee planning next?

The minutes of the last Committee meeting are now up on the website. Take a look for an insight into the inner workings of your club, and chat to a member of the Committee if you have a view on any of the items under discussion. Offers of help are very welcome and always accepted!

Did you know…?

There is such a thing as an aluminium velodrome? Yep, the world’s first aluminium velodrome has been opened in Tucson, Arizona. The material has apparently been chosen because of its ability to withstand the intense heat of the Arizona desert. No mention is made of the risk of burning your backside if you come down on it 🔥.

Till next time,
