Rolling News

As we shuttle towards the end of November (how did that happen?), the club is still serving up plenty to look forward to.
We’ve got a Forge Ride to keep the legs sharp, a Sunday Social to round off the month, and—if you need some warmth to look forward to—two cracking Spain trips now open for booking. There’s even a little inspiration from Egan Bernal.
Oh, and there’s some good news about membership renewals for 2026.
🚴 Forge Ride: 29…or 30 November!
Yes, it’s the last Saturday of the month, which means it’s a Forge week. With heavy rain in the forecast for Saturday, the ride might switch to Sunday. Keep an eye on the chat for weather-related updates. Faster-paced, training ride of approx. 60km.
Roll out: 9:15 am.
Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee stop
Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
☕️ Sunday Social Ride: 30 November
Pinch punch, last day of the month (yes, we know!). This week, Darren is leading a ride to Java & Jazz, Forest Row. Socially-paced, “no-drop” ride. Note the change to the start time.
Roll out: 9:00
Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.
Location: Boots, Uckfield
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
👫 Membership Renewals
Membership renewals are due on 31 December, and you should receive your reminder in the next few days.
The Committee has decided that we can continue to hold membership fees at £20 for the year. This is despite the inflation we’ve all experienced. Fees may need to increase for 2027, but we can happily kick that can down the road for a little while longer.
We hope that the rides, the races, the Jubilee celebrations, the trips, the communications, and the pure camaraderie of being part of a vibrant cycling club like ours will make renewal an easy decision for nearly everyone. Our membership is growing, we value you all and don’t want to lose a single person 💚.
🏅Slip Sliding Away. Georgina does it again
A fine 5th place in the seniors’ category of the South East Regional CX Championships was Georgina Wise’s reward for braving the muddy mess of the Cyclopark course in Gravesham last weekend.
In her words, “there was a lot of running and a fair bit of falling off”, but it all came good in the end. Chapeau.

And talking of Spain…
This video of Egan Bernal casually floating up Col de Rates as though gravity doesn’t exist might give you an extra bit of motivation to give it a try. 7 w/kg average is optional, but not advised.
Till next time,
