Rolling News

Might spring actually be in the air? (Doh, why did he say that out loud?!) Either way, the club calendar is starting to warm up nicely.
We’ve got a chain gang on Saturday - or just a beer and a chat over Milan-San-Remo if that’s more your thing - and the Circuit of Danehill on Sunday.
There’s also a final call for one more marshal to help make Sunday’s TT happen.
⛓️ Chain Gang - 21 March
By popular demand, we’re running a chain gang on the Broyle circuit this weekend. Faster-paced/training ride. 4-5 laps. Approx. 44-55 km. Start steady and gradually wind it up.
Roll out: 9:00 am
Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee afterwards.
Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer
Dress Code: Club kit, please
🍺 Milan-San Remo - 21 March
Drop into the Black Horse for the second of our Spring Classic showings, Milan-San-Remo, the longest one-day event on the UCI World Tour calendar.
Time: 1:00 pm - approx 4:30 pm.
Location: The Black Horse, Lewes
🚴 Circuit of Danehill - 22 March
All eyes are on Chelwood Gate on Sunday for the Circuit of Danehill TT. If you’re not riding, come on down and give it some support.
First Rider: 8:30 am
Duration: Approx. 1 hour (no coffee stop!)
HQ: The Village Hall, Chelwood Gate
Dress Code: Club kit preferred
🚫 Sunday Social - 22 March
There’s no Sunday Social this week to allow riders to lend a hand with the Circuit of Danehill. Please volunteer if you’re around. A small group might spin off from Chelwood Gate Village Hall for a short ride afterwards.
🗓️ Circuit of Danehill - 22 March
![]() | One last shout-out for the Circuit of Danehill on Sunday, March 22. First timers or regular TT’ers, sign up to ride here. Dare we say the weather looks very favourable?! We still need one more marshal to allow all points to be covered. The time commitment is less than an hour. Can you do this for your club? If you can, please step forward. |
Results in the Circuit of Danehill will count towards our new club points competition. We’ll share more details next week.
Club Kit on Club Rides

There’s nothing more resplendent and likely to attract new members than a phalanx of riders on the road (or trails), proudly wearing club kit.
As a club, we struggle more than most to get riders on club runs to turn out in their club jerseys.
We are now going to tighten the protocol on club runs, from club kit preferred to club kit expected. Please do what you can to support this policy.
PS. Drop a message here if you are interested in buying items from the club shop.
Potholes
Yes, the bane of all our lives, and the risk to cyclists is now making national news. BBC News carried an article on Thursday in which East Sussex County Council said 4,713 pothole repairs were reported in February, and that it had doubled the number of repair crews to 24. The council is deploying a polymer-based patching system to improve durability. | ![]() We’ll believe the improvements when we see them, but well done to Angmering CC for their part in getting the issue on the news agenda. |
