Rolling News

This week, it’s eyes down for details of our Bank Holiday weekend rides, and an update on plans for our Platinum Jubilee lunch. Let’s scroll.

🗓️ Upcoming Rides

🚴‍♀️ Forge Ride : 23 August

There is no official Forge ride, but if you need your Saturday endorphin fix, keep an eye on the group chat for details of who’s about. With big rides planned for Sunday and Monday, Forge riders are advised to go easy 😂.

  • Roll out: To be agreed

  • Duration: To be agreed

  • Location: Forge Cafe, Ringmer

👑 Platinum Jubilee Club Ride: 24 August

This is the big one. We invite as many members as possible to join a socially paced, “no-drop” ride to Box Hill, Surrey. Club kit of any vintage is strongly encouraged as there will be a group photo for the archives. We’re departing from the Brewers Arms, Lewes, where the Club was founded in 1950.

If you can’t do the whole ride, please come along for the photo-call.

🌳 Bank Holiday Gravel Ride: 25 August

Swap bikes and come out on Monday for some off-road action. Led by Mugs Gohl, the route will be friendly for MTBers and gravel newbies, with coffee at Cadence, Litlington. We’d love to see lots of new faces. Club kit preferred.

🛌 Wednesday Slackers: 27 August

With one day back in the office being one too many for some, join the Slackers for a chance to recharge. Approx 3.5 hours. Generally Z2. Come as you like.

  • Roll out: 9:00

  • Location: Isfield or Barcombe (TBC)

  • Sign up: Ask to be added to the Wednesday Slackers WhatsApp group.

🍽️ Platinum Jubilee Lunch - Update

The idea of a Sunday Lunch to mark the Platinum Jubilee is striking a chord with those who’ve voted. We still need a few more votes to gauge likely numbers.

We’re now looking at Sunday 16 November as September is too soon for venues. This neatly coincides with the club being officially named on 14 November 1950. You’d almost think we’d planned it!

Please take a moment to let us know what you think.

PS. don’t vote again if you’ve voted already, it’ll only confuse us!

🔥 In Case You Missed It…

The latest news on the website
  • Racing Round Up: Third for Team Wanderers in the ESCA 25; PBs and podiums at Birling Gap; and first outings of the CX season. These are just some of the achievements by club members in a busy week of racing. Check out the article for all the results.

2-UP Challenge TT
  • In our best supported TT of the season, 16 riders lined up as 7 pairs and 2 solo participants for the rearranged 2-Up Challenge. We were delighted to welcome several guests in a field that also included 7 female riders. Things are looking 2-up! Conditions were fair and times rapid. You can see the full set of results on Result Sheet.
