Rolling News

No talk of spring temperatures this week. We’ll keep our mouths well and truly shut on that one 🥶!

We can talk about the results from the Circuit of Danehill, the return of weekday chain gangs, and a few reminders that these things don’t just happen by magic… even if it sometimes feels that way.

Have a quick scan — your week ahead has just been decided!

🚴 Forge Ride - 28 March

Last Saturday of the month can only mean one thing - Forge Ride week. We’re out on the Beachy Head hilly loop for 60km of faster-paced training fun. Jump on board and wear club kit if you’ve got it, please.

  • Roll out: 9:00 am

  • Duration: Approx. 3 hours, including the coffee afterwards.

  • Start Location: The Forge, Ringmer

  • Dress Code: Club kit expected

☕️ Sunday Social - 29 March

The Sunday Social returns this week and is heading towards 180° Bar & Kitchen, Whitemans Green. Remember, the clocks change overnight, and rollout moves to Wanderers’ Summer Time. Please wear club kit if you’ve got it.

  • Roll out: 8:30 am

  • Duration: Approx. 4 hours, including the coffee stop.

  • Start Location: Boots, Uckfield (going via Forge and Lewes for pick-ups)

  • Dress Code: Club kit expected

⛓️ Chain Gang - 1 April

The arrival of Wanderers’ Summer Time also means the arrival of our evening chain gang. Single laps of 11km with regrouping and recovery at the end of each one. Not a race, but not a social either! Put a thumbs up in the chat if you’re joining.

  • Roll out: 6:00 pm

  • Duration: Approx. 1 hour

  • Start Location: The Golden Cross, Golden Cross

  • Dress Code: Club kit preferred

🏁 Circuit of Danehill - Results

Congratulations to all riders who took part in the Circuit of Danehill last Sunday.

The air was on the chilly side, but conditions were otherwise near perfect for a full-gas effort around the 29km loop, with almost no wind and clear visibility.

Five guest riders joined eight Wanderers, and it was the guests who dominated the results. Only Michael Renardson, second place in a time of 44:37, broke into their monopoly of the top five.

The winner was Robert Lovett in 43:48. Likely a course record on a road bike.

Next up is the Circuit of Laughton on 27 May. Mark your diary and look out for more information nearer the time.

🚴 Lewes Crits 2026

The Crits will be a one-off event this year, held on 11 June. The change concentrates entries and simplifies organisation.

The race will be on the same course as in 2025 and open to Cat 2, 3 and 4 riders.

If you’re interested in racing in the event, drop Dan Street a line.

John Powell is leading the organisation and will be emailing members nearer the time for volunteers. Stand ready!

In case you missed it - Committee Meeting Minutes

Your venerable committee met on 17 March to discuss club business and have a beer - not necessarily in that order.

The minutes of the meeting are now available on the website. Take a peek for the inside track on the decisions being made on your behalf and the first hint of a potential August Bank Holiday event - a chance for us all to do a bit of good 😁.

BTW. We still need somebody to step forward to be the Club Secretary. The role is easy; it’s your contribution to the discussions that we really want. Let Darren know if you’re willing to help.

Till next time,

The Wandering Crew
