Rolling News

There’s a bit of everything this week — from Chris Hurcomb’s upcoming gravel adventure to hill-climbing heroics from last weekend’s double-header, and a new coffee stop.

The Jubilee Jersey shop is open again (yes!), and the Jubilee Lunch is taking shape. On this, if you’re planning to come along, you now need to let us know how many are in your party so we can tally the numbers — partners and children are welcome.

Plenty to get involved with, then — on and off the bike.

🚴 Gravel Ride : 18 October

A figure of eight South Downs loop devised and led by Chris Hurcomb, or possibly Mugs Gohl! Up to 100km with plenty of opportunities to drop off early if you’re looking for a shorter ride.

  • Roll out: 9:00 am.

  • Duration: Approx. 4 hours for the full loop

  • Start Location: Offham Garage & Stores

  • Dress Code: Club kit preferred

☕️ Sunday Social Ride: 12 October

Keep an eye on the group chat and members Facebook page for details. Socially-paced, “no-drop” ride.

  • Roll out: 8:30

  • Duration: Approx 4 hours, including coffee.

  • Location: Boots, Uckfield

  • Dress Code: Club kit preferred

🤩 Jubilee Jersey

The shop is now OPEN, this time until 27 October. The odds are with us that orders will be here in time for Christmas. Why not order yourself an early present - or two?

🍽️ Jubilee Lunch

A reminder that the Jubilee Lunch is booked for 16 November, 1:00 pm, at the Five Bells, Chailey.

We now need to start getting a fix on the numbers, so please let us know if you are coming by completing this short form. Partners and children are very welcome.

And good news, the Treasurer cracked, and the meal will be subsidised!!

Let’s get as many of us together as possible - new members and old - to toast this very special anniversary for the club.

🔥 Racing News…

Hill Climbing

There were top efforts to the summit of Firle Beacon in the ESCA Hill Climb last Saturday by Dan Street, Alex Steer and new member, Alice Gilmore.

Dan stopped the clock in 5’11.70”, Alex in 5’35.80” (a PB), and Alice in 5’42.90”

Dan then sped over to Butt’s Lane, Eastbourne, fuelled himself on a Cadence toastie on the way, and recorded a time of 5’12” up the incline.

Chapeau.

Alice Gilmore 💪
